Sitges is small town about 35km away from Barcelona but it’s really easy to acces by train. There are in total 17 beaches in Sitges, so there is something for everyone. It has been a fishing village but nowadays when tourists have found it, it’s popular and crowded destination especially in the summer. Platja de Sant Sebastia is one popular beach with relaxed and local atmosphere. It’s good for families also but can get really crowded in the summer.
Tarragona is located 90 kilometers to the south from Barcelona. It’s historic city full of monuments and other tourist attractions, such as Cathedral and Museum on Tarragona. Tarragona is home to the Tarraco Archaeological Site, which has awarded the World Heritage designation by the UNESCO. You can easily visit Sitges and Tarragona at the same time as they are located on the same railway track.
Monserrat is located about one hour North West from Barcelona and you can go there by train. Monserrat is perfect day trip destination for people who enjoys nature and beautiful breathtaking views. If you want to have some cultural experience also combined with nature, there is museum of Monserrat, where you can see work of some famous artists like Dali, El Greco and Picasso. You can walk or take the funicular to the top.
Tossa de Mar
Tossa de Mar is part of Costa Brava and it’s easy to go there by bus from Barcelona Nord station. You can find clean beaches with clear water, La Vila Vella castle, little streets with nice restaurants and shops. This is a perfect city for day trip if you want to combine historical culture and beach together and of course enjoy good variety of restaurants.
There are also many other destinations in Costa Brava and they are easy to acces by train or bus from Barcelona. Some other places are for example Blanes, Roses, Girona and Lloret de Mar.
Figueres, the birthplace of Dali, is the place where Dali Museum is located and that’s why it attracts lot’s of tourists every day. It is actually second visited museum in Spain. You can easily go to Figueres by train, bus or car. Train takes you from Barcelona to Figueres in 50 minutes and from the train station there is only 15 minutes walk to the museum.
