When it comes to getting more greens into your diet, you immediately think of eating more salad, right? Luckily there are many ways to add greens in your diet without getting stuck in a salad rut.
Whether you’re just starting a healthier lifestyle or just looking to add more greens in your diet, this post will give you some ideas.
A lot of people think you can’t eat delicious meals when maintaining a healthy diet, however, vegetables can be very tasty if you know what to do with them! They’re full of vitamins, fiber and minerals, and eating them has so many benefits.
- Let’s start by making a veggie wrap. This is probably the easiest way to add more greens in your diet. The problem with normal wraps is that they are very high in gluten and gluten-free wraps are usually expensive. So, why not try making your own homemade wraps? Then you can see exactly what is going into them, plus you can add your own ingredients to suit you. One of our favorite recipes is a red bean wrap – which is made with tomatoes, red beans (which are high in protein) with fried onions and curry. Don’t forget to make homemade guacamole to add flavor and help lower cholesterol!
- Let’s continue with a tofu salad. Eating tofu is a great way to have a well-balanced diet without having meat or fish. Tofu is a vegan cheese made from soybeans. With a smooth and creamy texture, tofu is delicious cooked with vegetables such as broccoli or fried with garlic. Tofu is very rich in protein, so mixing it in a salad with lots of vegetables is an excellent way to help get a balanced diet. Definitely add some cucumber as it is very low in calories and yet provides a good dose of fiber and vitamins B and E.
- Last but not least is a green smoothie. Green smoothies are best for when you’re too busy to sit down and have a meal, or if you’re in a hurry in the morning. Hemp seed smoothie is good for burning body fat and is high in protein. If you’re worried about taste, add some slices of mango, and don’t forget to add milk to up its calcium content. If you want to add some sweetness to your smoothie, add dates – in addition to being rich in vitamins, dates are an antioxidant that will help against fat accumulation in the body.
